‘Work in progress’, as all writers know, is an elastic phrase, embracing a range of true meaning from ‘final draft completed’ to ‘merest gleam in the eye for the next decade if I live that long’. But translations of Maupassant, and of The Gospel of St John, are well under way, and should appear later in 2008.
