Updates and Projects

In the creation of this site, I have incurred numerous debts – to early teachers and later colleagues, past and present translators, web-site designers, and many others. The ‘further reading and links’ sections will intimate the immense reservoir to be explored in the case of individual texts and writers, and also more generally. All the sources there mentioned have helped to pave the way, not only by indicating paths to follow but – equally important – by signalling less profitable routes. In the case of the inaugural translations on the site, I am particularly indebted to James Winny’s version of Sir Gawain, John Cairncross’ versions of Racine, and Martin Sorrell and Mark Treharne's translations of Rimbaud.

For very substantial help in the design and production of the site, it is a pleasure to acknowledge the skills and support of Peter Lynton, without whose talents it would never have appeared.
